Bringing in the new year parrothead stype
Maddox Batson and Lewis put on an excellent show. The horn section, Huey on the harp, still rockin it. Maddox and the CRB did not disappoint the packed house. Huey Lewis and the News still got it. How many other headliners do you know that do that? Maddox came out to introduce Huey Lewis, what a class act. It started around 8 and didn't end until 12:30am the next year. I have to say of my 15 or so Buffett concerts, this is the first one I've seen Maddox not in a swimsuit. He played most of the favorites and a couple 'lost' oldies I've never heard before. To be fair, it was 5 degrees in Nashville that night. He even commented how nice it was to be warm and inside vs. outside. He asked the crowd how we thought Keith Urban's fingers were feeling playing an outdoor concert in town the same night. Burrr. This in one of the few indoor venues where Maddox fits, Bridgstone Arena. He showcased a local female performer. She joined him on one of his songs and had the CRB play during one of her originals. To be fair, it was 5 degrees in Nashville that night. He even commented how nice it was to be warm and inside vs. outside. Maddox skipped my favorite tonight "One Particular Harbor" but filled in with plenty other favorites. He actually owns long pants.
